We planned to only use a convertible car seat but realised we needed a portable one because then I could ride with others easier. Also, the hospital requires you to bring it in before you take the baby home. Our little one was so small that this seat was perfect to start with.

This is the most BRILLIANT carrier invented! It is perfect in every way! The base part detaches and can become a hip seat. Our son loves the hip seat! Sometimes he just wants to be carried so I strap on the seat and carry him for as long as he like with back pain. It can be folded down to fit in a bag. And the amount of stuff that fits is endless: 5 nappies, wipes, nappy bag, extra outfit, muslin and toys! The bibs on the straps are genius and the sun cover is perfect! You can also open up the front in case it's too hot.

I got a car seat mirror to give me some peace of mind when driving. You can see your baby quickly without twisting your back. Also, our little one likes to look through it to see his surroundings.
