Postpartum Essentials

Nursing Bras

Make sure to have bras two sizes up for postpartum! Your breast will get engorged and you will need the space. I love these ones because of how comfortable and easy they are.

Maternity Pads

Best pads! They are massive and way more comfortable than the hospital pads. I would change my pad each time I would use the toilet.

Portable Bidet

I never used mine but most of my friends said it was so essential for them. This will help dilute your urine so it doesn't irritate your lady parts. I simply just drank loads of water and that would dilute my urine enough that I never felt any burn going to the toilet.

Compresses

These are such a relief to your nipples if they are sore and sensitive! I would just cut them in half so they would last longer. Make sure to give your nipples as much fresh air as possible.

Postpartum Underwear

Everyone is different on how long they bleed for. For me, I stopped heavy bleeding after two weeks. So I started wearing maternity underwear again and normal pads. You will still have your bump so these will not squeeze you.

Water Bottle

Water is so important in your postpartum. It will help you heal quicker, dilute your urine so it doesn't burn, increase your milk supply and help your skin. 2 litres is recommended daily.

Nursing Dress

I still wear this one today! My favourite is the grey floral. This dress is brilliant for nursing after giving birth. I love how it fits!

Postpartum Box

I keep this box right next to the toilet with all my essentials (pads, underwear, tucks, etc). So each time I had to go to the toilet I had everything I needed within arms reach. Also, it was handy when my waters broke... I was able to quickly grab a pad to put on and soak up the liquid so I could show the midwife.

Nappy Bags

I used these bags to put my soiled maternity pads in. That way they didn't let out a bad odour. It's a great hack!

Breastfeeding Vitamins

Vitamins are not only important during pregnancy but for breastfeeding too! Your baby needs all those good nutrient through your milk. Taking this every day helped me know that my baby was getting what he needed.

Nipple Cream

I barely used this at the start because rubbing breast milk on your nipple usually is the best remedy but when it became unbearable I was grateful I had this cream. One tube is more than plenty.

Pads

Perfect reusable pads for when your bleeding gets down to normal. These are long and so much more comfy than the disposable pads. And they are so easy to clean afterwards.

Maternity Yoga Pants

Don't throw away your maternity clothes yet! I used my maternity clothes for 6 weeks after birth. So put on your comfy yoga pants and don't worry about losing weight.

Mesh Underwear

This underwear is so stretchy and comfy. I would wash these, so I could reuse them. During the first 6 weeks, you will have a long period and it can be pretty heavy (catching up on the 9 months mother nature gave you a pass).

Tucks

Whenever it burned or itched down there I used these pads to get relief. I would pat the wet pad on me and then fan the area to get fresh air in. The Witch Hazel ingredient is amazing! It helped so much!

Breast Pads

I went with reusables because it costs way less and it's better for the environment. The bamboo material is so soft! I bought 4 packets, so 28 pairs in total. In the beginning, I would use 5 a day and later 3 a day. If you don't leak that much 2 during the day and 1 at night are perfect.

Compression Socks

No matter what kind of labour you had, you will retain loads of water. I was recommended to wear these socks for 6 weeks. After six weeks my legs looked like new!

3 in 1 Shampoo

Shampoo can burn your lady parts so bad! This shampoo is great because it's everything packed in one and there is no burning!

Nursing Dress

Simple but beautiful! This dress not only comes in many different colours but it can be worn while pregnant! So serves two purposes in the end.
